What Derive is
Derive is an AI-powered learning platform that helps students understand course material through guided tutoring. By using Derive, you agree to these terms.
Subscriptions and billing
Derive offers a recurring subscription. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel. You can cancel your subscription at any time, and you will continue to have access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
Pricing changes
We reserve the right to change our pricing. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days' notice before the new price takes effect. You can cancel before the new pricing applies if you don't agree with the change.
Your content
You own everything you upload and create on Derive, including course materials, conversations, and generated notes. We do not claim any ownership of your content. You grant us permission to process your content only to provide the tutoring service (sending it to the AI, storing it for your access, etc.).
AI accuracy
The AI tutor may sometimes produce incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information. While we work to make the AI as helpful and accurate as possible, you are responsible for verifying the accuracy of any information it provides. Do not rely on AI responses as your sole source of truth for academic work.
Academic outcomes
Derive is a learning tool, not a guarantee of academic results. We are not responsible for your grades, exam scores, or any other academic outcomes. How you use the platform and apply what you learn is entirely up to you.
Account termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you misuse the platform. Misuse includes but is not limited to: attempting to circumvent the AI's teaching approach, using the platform for illegal purposes, or abusing the service in a way that impacts other users. If we terminate your account, we will notify you by email.
Service availability
Derive is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep the platform running smoothly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We are not liable for any downtime, data loss, or issues arising from use of the platform.
Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use Derive. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
