What data we collect

When you use Derive, we collect the following information:

• Account information: Your name and email address, provided when you sign up or log in with Google.
• Uploaded course materials: PDFs, images, and text files you upload to your courses.
• Conversation history: All messages between you and the AI tutor, stored so you can pick up where you left off.
• Generated notes: Study notes created by the AI from your conversations.
• Session data: Cookies used to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (like dark mode).

How your data is processed

When you send a message or upload materials, your content is sent to Anthropic's API (the company behind Claude) to generate AI responses and study notes. This means a third party processes your content in order to provide the tutoring service.

We use Supabase to store your data (account info, files, conversations, and notes). Your data is stored securely and encrypted in transit.

Payments

Payments are processed through Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, expiration date, or CVC on our servers. Stripe handles all payment information securely. You can learn more about Stripe's security practices at stripe.com/privacy.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is only used to provide the Derive service.

You own your content

Everything you create on Derive belongs to you. Your uploaded course materials, conversation history, and generated notes are your property. We do not claim ownership of your content.

Deleting your account and data

You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing danny.santano@gmail.com. We will delete your account, uploaded files, conversations, notes, and preferences. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Cookies

Derive uses cookies for authentication and session management. These are essential cookies that keep you logged in and remember your settings (like light or dark mode). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

Age requirement

Derive is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
